The main productive activities of Peru

After the dark period of terrorism in the 80's, Peru began its economic growth since 1993, an average annual rate of 6% during the first 2 successive decades.

The two major development sectors are the mining and the fishmeal industry. Since 2000, Peru has become a major agricultural exporter with products such as asparagus, paprika and organic bananas (first world exporter), as well as mangoes, avocados, grapes, coffee, cocoa and premium-quality cotton.
